ALLEGEDLY INTOXICATED MAN AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY MCDONALD’S THOUGHT HE WAS AT HOME

On May 18, 2026, at approximately 7:22 PM, Officers Sgt. Sherrill and PTL. M. Park responded to the McDonald’s on Peavine Road at the request of emergency medical services regarding a public intoxication complaint. They made contact with Mr. Paul Chambers, who appeared heavily intoxicated—nonverbal, confused (at times believing he was at home rather than the restaurant), unsteady on his feet, with red watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.

Chambers had a large cut on his forehead that EMS had already treated; he refused further medical care or transport to the hospital. After multiple failed attempts to get him to leave voluntarily, officers escorted him out and determined he was a danger to himself and the public, as his intoxication had already caused him to fall and sustain the head injury.

Mr. Chambers was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, where he was charged with public intoxication. McDonald’s staff additionally requested that he be banned from the location.
