ALLISON JOY “GIGI” TATE, AGE 54
Allison Joy “GiGi” (Denton) Tate, age 54, of Coalmont (formerly of Spencer), passed away peacefully February 6, 2020 at Hospice of Chattanooga.
She was born July 2, 1965 in Dayton, Tennessee to Jerry Denton and Billie Ruth (King) Doris. She was an animal lover, a member of ASPCA, and an avid advocate for “No Kill” animal shelters. Joy had a passion for traveling, shopping, and was an avid festival goer. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints in Crossville.
She is survived by her husband: Jerry Tate; mother and step-father: Billie Ruth and Mike Doris; son: Shannon Layne Shaw; brothers: Richard Denton and Dustin (Jessica) Doris; sisters: Lisa Denton; special cousins: Hope (Kenny) Baker and Faith (Eric) Johnson; mother-in-law: Rachel Johnson; sisters-in-law: Tammy (Dennis) Sons and Debbie (Jeff) Broadway; brother-in-law: Anthony (Cheryl) Tate; her special baby monkey: George; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter: Kara Joy Cox.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 4 p.m. at Layne Funeral Home in Spencer, Tennessee. There will be a visitation with the family prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
