ALLRED ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF SMALL AMOUNTS OF POT AND METH

Late Saturday night, Cumberland County deputies noticed a vehicle about to exit a gas station, onto U.S. Highway 127 North. Upon seeing the cruiser, the driver backed up into the parking lot, got out and started checking the tires. A truck pulled up and the driver and a passenger got into it and the truck left.

Deputies ran the registration, which did not match the car.

They conducted a traffic stop on the truck and made contact with 32-year-old Damon Joshua Allred of Crossville. When asked why they left the car at the gas station, the arrest report states he said “he just found out the  tags didn’t match the vehicle and he didn’t want to get in trouble.” The arrest affidavit further states Allred said the vehicle belonged to a friend and he was just driving it for him; but when he learned it didn’t have the proper tags, he called his girlfriend to come and get him.

Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from Allred. A search turned up pot and meth.

Allred was arrested and charged with possession of meth and simple possession of marijuana. He was placed under $4,000 bond and is due in court May 13.
