ANDERSON COUNTY MAN SOUGHT ON AGGRAVATED KIDNAPPING, OTHER CHARGES

Once he is located, an Anderson County man will face charges that include aggravated kidnapping after a woman said he held her against her will and beat her.

At a house on New Clear Branch Road on Sunday afternoon, the woman said she’d just escaped from a nearby home after a man there kidnapped her Friday. Deputies saw she was covered in bruises “in different stages of healing,” with a particularly fresh bruise on the right side of her head.

She told the officer after the suspect’s mother gave her a sleeping pill and they thought she was asleep, she was able to escape. She ran to one neighbor’ s house, and then another after the man at the first house said he could not give her a ride. Deputies found her at the second house.

An officer went to the suspect’s home and spoke with the mother, who said her son and a friend had just left. She also said her son and the alleged victim had been fighting, but gave no specifics about the nature of their disagreement.

Deputies searched the home and located a black switchblade matching the description of the knife the victim described, later identified as the weapon the man used to threaten her.

The suspect will face charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, vandalism and interfering with an emergency call.

The victim was taken into custody herself on a failure to appear warrant.
