The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office continues to get reports from residents who say they have been contacted by someone identifying themselves as Sergeant or Captain Owens with the Sheriff’s Office, saying they have a warrant for their arrest. They then explain that you can make a payment to avoid arrest, and they tell you to stay on the line with them while they walk you through how to make this payment. No Law Enforcement agency will ever try to collect a payment for missing Court, Jury Duty, etc. over the phone. If you receive a call like this, simply hang up and contact the agency they claim to be with to verify.
