ANONYMOUS TIP LEADS TO THE ARREST OF SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY VIOLATOR
From the Oliver Springs Police Department:
This morning, Oliver Springs Officers, acting on an anonymous tip, attempted to locate a wanted individual, a transient 54-year-old male, on Railroad Avenue. The individual was wanted on 3 counts of Violation of Probation(Felony) stemming from a previous Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping incident that occurred in 2019.
Upon contact with the individual behind the residence on Railroad Ave, he attempted to evade capture. After a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody while attempting to conceal himself in a bamboo thicket without further incident. Further investigation revealed the male to be active on Tennessee’s Sex Offender Registry while living in Oliver Springs without properly registering his home address as required by law.
As such, he was charged with Violation of the Sex Offender Registry, Evading Arrest, and Resisting Arrest, in addition to the original Probation Violations.
Chief of Police David Laxton stated: “Our department remains unwavering in its duty to rid our community of those who threaten its safety. We will relentlessly pursue every lead and hold offenders accountable under the law. I urge citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity so we can keep Oliver Springs safe together.”
