Bradley County sheriff’s deputies responded Monday to a burglary in progress at a residence on Bates Pike. The homeowner discovered his back door opened and once he was inside, he encountered 31-year-old Cody Tyler Appling. A brief physical altercation took place before Appling fled the scene in a vehicle that was stolen. Appling was arrested later and charged with aggravated burglary, vehicle burglary, possession of meth, felony evading arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
