Tennessee’s state average gas price is $2.48 per gallon for regular unleaded, making it the seventh lowest average in the nation. Today’s average is four cents less than the average a week ago, 13 cents less than a month ago and 22 cents less than one year ago.

Area gas prices for regular unleaded are trending as low of $2.27 per gallon per gallon in Crossville, $2.34 in Jamestown and $2.43 in Midtown.
The national gas price average is $2.81.

AAA spokesperson Jeanette Casselano said gas prices have been trending lower for the past month and there are no signs of pump prices changing gears toward more expensive prices for the summer season. She said one major indicator supporting this forecast is the price of crude oil, which last week dropped by $6 to $53 a barrel, which is one of the lowest prices of the year.
