Rhea County authorities arrested a man yesterday (Friday, January 19, 2024) in connection with the shooting death of 7-year-old Jo’zie Shane Brown.

Deputies and agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation took Christion Hamilton Jones into custody.

He was booked into the Rhea County jail where he will await arraignment in court.

Officers say the shooting happened on Sunday, January 14 on Upper Fine Lane in Dayton.

The victim is reportedly the younger brother of the suspect.

Sheriff Mike Neal says his office cannot release further information because the investigation is ongoing.

Jo’zie loved playing basketball, soccer, and video games. He was an awesome kid who always brought a smile to everyone’s face.

His family says the second grader loved football and played for the Dayton Little Eagles.

The funeral service and visitation will be on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 4 until 8 p.m. Eastern at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee.
