At approximately 0430 am this morning, Crossville Fire & Rescue and Crossville Police Department were dispatched to Methodist Campground Loop located on Old Jamestown Highway for multiple buildings on fire. On arrival, fire crews found one large pavilion fully involved at 79 Methodist Campground Lane, a bathhouse on fire located at 53 Methodist Campground Lane, and an event building on fire at 165 Methodist Campground Loop. Fire Crews began aggressive firefighting operations to extinguish the multiple blazes. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fires in the bathhouse and the event building, however the Pavilion was fully involved with a roof collapse and was a total loss. Fire Investigators determined that the fires were intentionally set and a potential suspect was identified. Crossville Fire Investigators and Crossville Police aggressively began searching for the suspect who was believed to still be in the area. The suspect was located and arrested just before 8am this morning. Crossville Fire & Rescue Chief Chris South would like to congratulate the Fire and Police crews for containing the blazes and quickly apprehending the suspect. The investigation is still ongoing.
