ATHENS MAN GIVEN 10 CONSECUTIVE LIFE SENTENCES FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE

In Athens, Tennessee, 29-year-old Kenterrius McGuffie pleaded guilty to 27 serious charges related to child sexual abuse, including 13 counts of aggravated rape of a child, 12 counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of continual sexual abuse of a child, and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. He was sentenced to 10 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 16 years in prison—one of the longest sentences ever imposed in Tennessee for such crimes, as announced by District Attorney General Stephen Hatchett of the 10th Judicial District.

The case began in 2024 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off authorities about child sexual abuse material uploaded to Snapchat, leading the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to identify McGuffie. Evidence, including videos from his devices and Snapchat account, was reviewed by the judge during sentencing.

Hatchett described the abuse as “horrific,” noting it was not only committed but also filmed, and emphasized that sexual predators in the district would be prosecuted to the fullest extent, serving as a warning to others. Multiple agencies collaborated on the investigation, including the TBI, the 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Athens Police Department, McMinn County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Nashville Police Department, and the 10th Judicial Children’s Advocacy Center.
