ATHENS POLICE SEEK PUBLIC HELP FOR INFO ON ACCIDENT

ATHENS, TENNESSEE- June 18, 2025- Officers with the Athens City Police Department responded to the intersection of Redfern Road and Congress Parkway in reference to a Motor Vehicle Accident involving a box truck and a motorcycle. Upon arrival they made contact with two subjects, one of them who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lieutenants Witt and Patterson with the Athens Police Department responded to the scene for processing. Evidence and Statements were taken at the scene, the results from the investigation yielded two incidents occurred at the crash site. The original crash then a separate crash involving a dark colored SUV which after striking the motorcycle driver fled the scene Northbound on Congress Parkway.
This is an active investigation and if anyone has any information about the Motor Vehicle Accident is asked to contact the Athens Police Department. Lieutenant Patterson and Lieutenant Witt are in charge of the investigation. Businesses in the area be advised that APD Detectives will be stopping by throughout the day and checking surveillance footage, any cooperation would greatly benefit the investigation.
The decedents next of kin have been notified of this incident. Names of the parties involved will not be released at this time due to the investigation being active.
