ATKINSON ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY POINTING RIFLE AT CUMBERLAND CO. DEPUTIES

A Grandview woman is facing charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at two Cumberland County deputies yesterday. The report states 68-year-old Violet Wilma Atkinson approached a Fed Ex driver who was delivering a $50 Fisher-Price toy to a nearby neighbor, claimed the package was hers and took the package back to her residence. Atkinson then grabbed a firearm and pointed it at the neighbor. Deputies arrived and confirmed the package was meant for delivery to the neighbor and not Atkinson. The deputies made several attempts to get Atkinson to come to the door without success. That is when the two deputies forced entry to arrest the suspect and were met with Atkinson allegedly pointing a rifle toward them. Officers were able to take her into custody without incident for aggravated assault and theft.
