ATTEMPTED BURGLARY OF HOME IN CROSSVILLE RESULTS IN DOG INJURED

Police officers in Crossville responded last night to a home on Lee June Street off Dunbar Lane to an attempted burglary in progress.
A woman in the residence told officers her dog was outside barking a lot.
She went to check on the canine and opened her front door.
It was not the dog she saw, but an unknown man standing on the porch.
She immediately closed the door and locked it.
Her husband arrived and saw their dog suffering from a cut bleeding just below the eye.
Officers say the suspect struck the dog before the door opened.
The male subject was wearing dark-colored pants and shoes.
The incident is under investigation.
