AUTHORITIES RECOVER THE BODY OF RILEY STRAIN IN CUMBERLAND RIVER
A two-week search for missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain concluded this morning when authorities recovered his body this morning in the Cumberland River.
Law enforcement says the body was located 8 miles downriver from where he was last seen in Nashville.
Authorities do not suspect foul play in his disappearance or his death.
Strain’s body being found was first reported to authorities by barge operators near the river. Workers were working to remove an object from the river when they spotted the body.
Nashville’s Mayor Freddie O’Connell also took to social media this morning to comment on the discovery, saying, “This is not the outcome that anyone hoped for” in a post on X (Twitter).
Strain disappeared while on a fraternity trip in Nashville on March 8, 2024. One of his friends called 911 the next morning to report him missing.
