BCSO ASKING FOR HELPING IDENTIFYING THE DRIVER WHO FLED AFTER FATAL CRASH
MARYVILLE, TENNESSEE – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle that left the scene following a fatal crash on Cunningham Road West in Seymour Sunday afternoon.
Charles R. Clark,75, of Regent Lane, Kodak, was fatally injured in the hit-and-run accident Sunday. Following the crash, Mr. Clark was taken by AMR Ambulance Service to U.T. Medical Center. Mr. Clark passed away at the hospital Wednesday evening. His wife, Theresa Clark, 71, was also taken to U.T. Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
Traffic Safety Deputies responded to the accident shortly after 3 pm Sunday afternoon. The investigation revealed that Mr. Clark was traveling east on Cunningham Road West in Seymour when a late model blue full-size Ford pick-up truck that was heading west crossed the centerline, striking Clark’s vehicle – a 2018 Nissan Rogue—head-on and then fled the scene. A witness from a residence nearby told deputies he saw the blue pick-up truck back up and drive off following the accident.
Deputies are continuing their investigation into the accident.
