BID AWARDED FOR FIRST PHASE OF HWY. 127 EXPANSION PROJECT

The long awaited expansion of Highway 127 in Cumberland County from I-40 north to near Potato Farm Road should start later this year. The Tennessee Department of Transportation awarded Jones Brothers Contractors the project at a bid total of $62.9 million. This is the first of several phases to make the stretch of road four-lane from the interstate to near Grimsley in Fentress County.

The other phases of the project include:

  • Potato Farm Road to near Hollow Lane covering nearly 3.5 miles
  • Near Hollow Lane to near North Lowe Road covering 3 miles
  • Near North Lowe Road to near Little Road north of Highway 62 in Clarkrange covering 3.27 miles.
  • Near Little Road to north of Kilby Road covering 3.23 miles.
  • Near Kilby Road to north of Banner Roslin Road covering 3.5 miles
  • Banner Roslin Road to the four-lane section north of Grimsley covering nearly 3 miles.

The scheduled completion date for the project is June 30, 2025.
