BILL TO BLOCK “DECRIMINALIZATION” OF POT PASSES HO– USE
Legislation designed to block the decriminalization of marijuana in the state has been approved by the House. The bill would squash laws that Memphis and Nashville have passed that have reduced the penalty for pot in some cases. The law passed 65-28 over the objections of legislators in Memphis and Nashville who have said that the state needs to stop interfering with their cities. Both had passed resolutions whereby arresting officers could decide, at their discretion, whether those caught with a small amount of the illegal drug would face a civil penalty or a misdemeanor charge.
