Cell phones have been a part of our lives for a few decades now and are used by some people continually. Unfortunately, many use the devices while driving and Tennessee lawmakers have introduced legislation to make it illegal to use them while doing so. It’s already illegal to use a phone while driving through a school zone. Over a dozen states have implemented laws similar to this newly proposed bill including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington D.C., Georgia, and Hawaii. Although consumers are purchasing technology-advanced vehicles that allow you to connect with your cell phone and talk handsfree, AAA says that it’s a misconception that this is safer. The driver can still be distracted by taking their minds off the road and into the conversation. Currently, in the state, teenagers and school bus drivers are banned from talking on the phone while driving.
