BILL WOULD SUSPEND DRIVING RIGHTS TO JUVENILES MAKING MASS VIOLENCE THREATS IN TENNESSEE SCHOOLS

The Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation yesterday that would suspend driving privileges for juveniles who make mass violence threats on school property or at a school-related activity.

House Bill 1698, sponsored by State Representative Robert Stevens (R-Smyrna) states if the juvenile already has their driver’s license, they would lose it for one year. If the juvenile does not have their license, they lose the ability to obtain a driver’s license for one year.

The bill now goes to Governor Bill Lee’s desk for his signature.

Once signed, the law will go into effect July 1, 2024.
