BLACKBURN OPPOSES EFFORT TO BLOCK BORDER EMERGENCY DECLARATION
Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn says she won’t vote for the resolution aimed at blocking President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Blackburn told reporters Thursday she’ll stand with Trump because Tennesseans want the border secured.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said there are enough votes in the Senate to pass the resolution. He predicted Trump would veto the resolution and the House would uphold his veto.
The House has already voted to up-end the emergency declaration.
Tennessee Republican Senator Lamar Alexander said Trump already congressional funding authority to build the wall without what he called a “dangerous national-emergency precedent.”
