GRUNDY COUNTY DEPUTY WHO CRASHED PATROL VEHICLE WITH INMATE INSIDE IDENTIFIED

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a noontime crash Thursday involving a Grundy County deputy that sent the driver of the other vehicle to an area hospital with minor injuries.

THP said Deputy Jonathan Hargis was driving the patrol car with an inmate inside when it rear-ended another vehicle in Altamont, on the 800 block of Main Street.

Hargis was responding to a call and had his emergency equipment engaged when he rear-ended the Nissan Altima.

The deputy and the inmate were both uninjured.
