BLOUNT COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES

A Louisville man is in custody on multiple felony charges after a nearly week-long search that began Easter Sunday.

Forty-eight-year-old Aaron David Switzer was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and violating an order of protection.

According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, he deliberately rear-ended his former girlfriend’s vehicle on U.S. Highway 321 in Townsend Easter Sunday, while she and her mother were stopped at the red light at Wears Valley Road. He reportedly pulled up next to them and started yelling, then began ramming their vehicle to force them to crash, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver stopped her vehicle stopped at a church on Bethel Church Road; she and her mother ran inside. Switzer crashed his vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. Townsend Police, along with deputies and K-9 teams from the Sheriff’s office, searched the area over the last several days.

Thursday, a burglary was reported at a home on Bethel Church Road. Wine, food, medication and other items were reported missing. On Friday, according to authorities, a citizen reportedly drove Switzer to a grocery store on Wears Valley Road in Sevier County.

Responding to the area, the sheriff’s office searched hotels. Switzer was found on a hotel lobby sofa and was taken into custody without incident to the Blount County Correctional Facility. Authorities said he admitted to breaking into the residence on Bethel Church Road. Switzer is being held on $700,000 bond pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court April 12.
