BLOUNT RESCUE SQUAD JOINS SEARCH FOR MISSING SWIMMER

On Saturday night, a male swimmer went missing at Augusta Quarry in Fort Dickerson Park, Knoxville, after reportedly going underwater and not resurfacing. Emergency crews were dispatched at 8:54 p.m. following a 911 call about a possible drowning.
The Knoxville Fire Department (KFD), Knoxville Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Blount County Rescue Squad are conducting a thorough search for the individual. The quarry was closed to the public at the time due to renovations, and KFD emphasized that entering closed public spaces is illegal and dangerous. The quarry is set to reopen by month’s end. This is an ongoing situation.
