On Tuesday, January 27, before noon, law enforcement agencies—including the Roane County Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney General’s Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI)—began investigating the discovery of a body at a residence in the 4300 block of Decatur Highway (Highway 58), near the Meigs/Roane county line in the Ten Mile community.

Details remain limited at this early stage, and media representatives have been directed to contact the TBI for further information, given the location’s proximity to three jurisdictions, according to the office of 9th Judicial District Attorney General Russell Johnson. Although the exact timeline is unconfirmed, authorities believe the body may have been present since Friday.

As of 2:00 p.m. today, the Roane County Rescue Squad was dispatched to transport the body to the Knoxville Forensic Center for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing in its preliminary phases, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
