BODY DISCOVERED NEAR MONTEREY; INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) reported on March 29 that deputies and investigators are actively working a crime scene near Monterey, at the eastern end of the county, after hikers discovered a partially decomposed body on Sunday, March 29. The investigation is ongoing, with the immediate priority being to identify the deceased individual.
Sheriff Farris stated that authorities are treating the location as an active crime scene and are diligently reviewing missing persons cases from both Putnam County and across Tennessee, while pursuing all other possible leads to determine the person’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the death.
