Approximately 11:15 Saturday morning, Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies and investigators were dispatched to the Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail off Highway 68, where a hiker had discovered the body of a white male, lying face down on the trail.

It appeared the body had been there for several days.

Investigators processed the scene and conducted an investigation. Tennessee State Park rangers and the Cumberland County Rescue Squad assisted in the retrieval of the body. The deceased man was identified as 60-year-old Tommy Woods of Paran Road in Cookeville. His death appeared to be from natural causes.
