Law enforcement in Blount County discovered the body of a missing 18-year-old late yesterday.

Troopers said Garrett McAmis was involved in a fatal car wreck on U.S. Highway 129.

Divers with the Blount Special Operations and Response Team located his body in his car in Chilhowee Lake.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

McAmis was last heard from by way of a text to a friend late last Friday. He stated he was at a pull-off on “The Dragon,” an area of U.S. Highway 129. He told his friend he was having trouble breathing.

No further information was released by law enforcement.
