BUCKNER ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER HIT-AND-RUN CRASH

Early Friday evening, Roane County deputies were sent to look for a hit-and-run vehicle in the area of Kingston Avenue and Jones Road. While en route to the call, Rockwood Police found the vehicle at Stratton and N. Gateway Ave. Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The hit-and-run victim, who was behind the suspect vehicle, stopped as well. The driver of the suspect vehicle, 51-year-old Lisa Darlene Buckner, refused to comply with field sobriety tests, claiming she “had to pee” and could not complete the tests.

Rockwood police found two open 50ml bottles of Calypso gold rum in the driver’s floor board. One was empty; the other still contained some rum.

Buckner appeared unsteady on her feet, her eyes were bloodshot and watery, and she smelled of alcohol. There was damage to the front left side of her vehicle, which also had white fence lattice under the front of the vehicle. The source of the lattice is unknown at this time, so there may be other property-damage charges.

The victim’s vehicle had damage the right rear side behind the back wheel to the bumper area.

Buckner was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of accident.
