Friday at noon a BOLO was issued by Roane County Central Dispatch for a stolen 2008 Ford Mustang. The BOLO was also sent to Cumberland and Morgan counties. The vehicle was seen in the area of Furnace Ave in Rockwood TN. An hour later, Cumberland County deputies stopped the stolen vehicle on Hwy 70 west, near the Roane County line. The driver, 19-year-old Austin Tyler Steelman, was taken into custody. Steelman was taken to the Roane County Detention Facility. After signing a rights waiver form, Steelman stated he saw the vehicle sitting on the side of the road in Webster Subdivision. He claimed he didn’t bust the window out, but looked inside and found the keys. Steelman stated he took the car from where it was parked, wrote out and signed a statement. Steelman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle over $10,000.
