C.P.S.C. ISSUES WARNING ABOUT RESTRAINT KITS SOLD ON AMAZON; 115 INCIDENTS

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning about defective plastic tip restraint kits manufactured by Cranach Hardware, sold on Amazon.com for $6 to $30. These kits, which include plastic brackets, a cable zip tie, screws, and drywall anchors, fail to meet the ASTM F3096-23 industry standard due to plastic that can break or degrade over time, posing a risk of furniture tip-overs.

This defect has led to 115 reported incidents, including six tip-over cases, which could severely injure young children interacting with secured furniture. Consumers are urged to immediately stop using these kits, remove them from furniture, dispose of them, and replace them with tip restraints compliant with ASTM F3096-23. Cranach Hardware, based in China, has not responded to recall requests.
