CAK AND CLAIBOURNE CO. JOINS OVERTON COUNTY IN CLOSING SCHOOL FOR FLU

Christian Academy of Knoxville and Claiborne County Schools joined Overton County schools in closing today and tomorrow (January 16 and 17, 2020) because of the flu. Parents are asked to wash their child’s backpacks, jackets, outerwear and other gear to remain as germ-free as possible. It’s also requested parents keep children at home while they are sick. School maintenance crews will be working through the weekend with the cleaning team to do a deep cleaning of its buildings and athletic facilities. Since Monday (January 20, 2020) is a holiday, students in these three school systems will return to class Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

The Centers for Disease Controls says four individuals died in Tennessee since the flu outbreak started late last year from the flu.

One child from Putnam County was transported to Vanderbilt for treatment of complications of the flu. Family members say the child received the flu shot.
