CAR CATCHES FIRE AFTER CRASH ON I-40 IN PUTNAM COUNTY
Yesterday afternoon at around 5:24 p.m., the Putnam County Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 295, where the vehicle became heavily engulfed in flames in the left lane. Firefighters quickly suppressed the fire, while the interstate was temporarily shut down for safety during emergency operations.
Witnesses reported that traffic had slowed when the vehicle rear-ended another, igniting the blaze. One patient was transported with minor injuries. The highway remained closed for approximately one hour, though one lane was reopened during that time.
