67-YEAR-OLD DRIVER CRASHES INTO UTILITY POLE ON US HIGHWAY 70E IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on May 10, 2026, a single-vehicle crash occurred on US Highway 70 East in Cumberland County involving a 2006 Pontiac GTO driven by 67-year-old Frederick Lansford. The vehicle was traveling westbound when it left the roadway to the right and struck a utility pole.
Lansford was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The vehicle was moved to a nearby driveway prior to the arrival of the investigating officer.
He was cited for failure to exercise due care and for expired registration. No other vehicles or occupants were involved.
