Carolyn Scott has stepped into the role of Executive Director for the Christian Counseling Center of Cumberland County (C5), bringing a robust background in nonprofit leadership and mental health advocacy to the organization.

In her new position, Scott will oversee marketing, public relations, fundraising, business development, and overall administration.

Donat Renaud, president of the C5 board of directors, expressed enthusiasm for the appointment, noting that Scott’s extensive leadership experience will reinforce the organization’s foundation, enhance financial sustainability, and expand community outreach and access to care.

A Wealth of Local Leadership Experience

Scott’s professional background includes leadership roles across the Upper Cumberland region, including serving as:

• Pastoral counselor at Cumberland Plateau Baptist Association

• Executive director of Christian Women’s Job Corps, Cumberland County Youth Center, and Plateau Pregnancy Services in Crossville

• Executive director of Heart of the Cumberland grief center in Cookeville

• Court advocate for Avalon in Crossville

• Social Services director at the Preserve in Fairfield Glade

She holds an associate degree from Roane State Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Cornerstone University, alongside numerous counseling certifications. Additionally, she holds community titles as the 2025 Ms. Senior Cumberland County and the 2026 Fairest of the Fair Senior Queen for Bledsoe County.

Founded in 2002, C5 is a 501(c)(3) interdenominational nonprofit dedicated to providing professional, licensed counseling services to children, adults, couples, and families throughout the Upper Cumberland area. Guided by the mission “Healing Hearts and Minds,” the center operates on a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay and accepts most insurance plans, ensuring mental health care remains accessible regardless of financial circumstances.
