CASH THEFT LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF METH

Yesterday, Deputy Morgan Alvarez responded to 2nd Street for a theft. The victim reported that Diane Lawson was inside his residence and stole $300 in $100 denominations before she left.

Deputy Alvarez located $260 of the stolen money at Whitehall Street in Crab Orchard. During the recovery of the stolen money, a search warrant was obtained for the house on Whitehall Street for a theft/drug investigation.

When Diane showed where she hid the money, a bag containing 5 grams of methamphetamine was located along with it.
The money was returned to the victim, and Lawson was issued a citation for the theft and possession. She will go to court on January 13th.
