LENOIR CITY FATHER KILLS SON IN SELF DEFENSE, SAYS LCPD
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Lenoir City Police Department is investigating after a man was found dead inside a home on 600 block of West Broadway.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, according to Chief Don White. He said that officers responded to the home and found 33-year-old Isaiah Gonzalez after he had been shot by his father. He was dead at the time, the chief said.
Throughout the early stages of the investigation, White said, officers learned that Gonzalez had come home and gotten into a fight with his parents about drugs.
The situation escalated, White said, and Gonzalez ended up attacking his parents, prompting his father to defend himself.
District Attorney General Russell Johnson also spoke on the incident, saying that LCPD officers had to overcome a language barrier to figure out what happened.
“Fortunately LCPD now has a native Spanish speaker as a new investigator who was a former law enforcement officer in San Francisco,” Johnson said. “This makes him highly valuable.”
Both the mother and father were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the chief said.
