We are happy to announce that Deputy Ron Fields has been honored as the Officer of the Year for the Cumberland Region by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office! This prestigious award recognizes his exceptional dedication and impactful service across a region that comprises 28 Sheriff’s Offices and 52 Police Departments.

Deputy Fields exemplifies what it means to serve and protect. His remarkable work ethic and life-saving actions on October 23, 2024, when he intervened to prevent an elderly woman from taking her own life, highlight his commitment to the community. This act of bravery is just one of many ways he has made a positive difference in the lives of Cumberland County residents.

In addition to his lifesaving efforts, Deputy Fields has made significant contributions this year, including, successfully solving a burglary, leading to the arrest of suspects and the return of stolen property. Serving as the affiant on two residential search warrants. Making numerous arrests related to wanted persons, narcotics violations, and other open charges. Recovering stolen property and seizing a variety of illicit narcotics, including approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine and nearly 5 grams of fentanyl.

Deputy Fields is also a leader in traffic enforcement and has been proactive in answering calls and taking reports. Not only is he at the forefront of law enforcement, but Deputy Fields has also led the transition to the Taser 10 program, modernizing our department’s equipment. His expertise in mixed martial arts has made him the go-to leader for defensive tactics training.

In a remarkable display of compassion, he even entered a structure fire to rescue family pets after ensuring the family was safe. Moreover, Deputy Fields is dedicated to spreading joy during the holiday season through his role in the Sheriff’s Office Christmas for Kids program, providing gifts to children in need and making their Christmas a little brighter.
