CHARLES ELMORE TO STEP DOWN FROM ROANE FAMILY PROMISE MAR. 30

Rockwood, TN – March 27, 2025 – Family Promise of Roane County is proud to reflect on the exceptional leadership of Charles Elmore, who has served as Executive Director from January 2023. Under his stewardship, the organization experienced remarkable growth and transformation, elevating its services to the community and making a significant impact on those in need. Elmore’s last day with the organization will be March 30, 2025.
During Elmore’s tenure, Family Promise of Roane County has seen a tremendous expansion in its mission to prevent family homelessness, provide shelter, and offer stabilization services. His visionary leadership allowed the organization to provide services to up to twenty families and sixty-five individuals at a time, significantly improving the lives of many in the region.
Key Achievements During Elmore’s Leadership:
• Remarkable Service Growth: Elmore spearheaded a dramatic increase in the organization’s services, with family services growing by 494%, and services to individuals rising by 519%. Key programs also saw impressive growth, including the shelter program (105% increase), diversion program (861% increase), and prevention program (2,582% increase).
• Thrift Store and Fundraising Initiatives: Elmore led the opening of a thrift store that not only provided essential items to families but also generated crucial income for the organization. He also drove successful fundraising events, direct mailings, newsletters, and grant administration, boosting government and foundation grant funding by 205%.
• Staff Development and Evaluation: Recognizing the importance of a well-supported team, Elmore conducted thorough evaluations for all employees and interns, fostering a positive and thriving work environment. His initiatives included implementing personality testing through Meyers-Briggs and the Enneagram to create a nurturing space where staff and interns could excel.
• Community Collaboration and Partnerships: Elmore fostered strong relationships with local institutions, securing internships for students from The University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Social Work, WIOA, and ETHRA. These partnerships not only provided vital resources for the organization but also enriched the services offered to clients, such as budgeting and tenancy classes, as well as after-school programs like Adventures in the Kitchen.
• Operational Excellence: In addition to overseeing a family-centered shelter program, Elmore worked closely with the Board Treasurer ensuring financial records were meticulously maintained. He also played a pivotal role in absorbing another nonprofit into Family Promise, further expanding its capacity to serve the community.
• Regional Influence and Advocacy: As an advocate for the homeless and those in need, Elmore participated in regional meetings and public speaking engagements, building both ministerial and financial support for the organization. His leadership has placed Family Promise at the forefront of the fight to end homelessness in the region, resulting in them being the featured nonprofit at Senator Ken Yager’s annual chili supper, The Tennessee Residence Christmas Home Tour, and Tennessee Serves Twelve Days of Giving Campaign.
