CHATTANOOGA VW PLANT EMPLOYEES SAY “NO” TO UNIONIZATION
Employees at the Chattanooga Volkswagen plant have voted down a choice to join a union. Nearly 95 percent of the worker population submitted their votes over the last week; 776 employees for the United Auto Workers with 833 workers voting against the union. The result of the vote means that the plant will be the only VW plant in the world that is not unionized. Many employees were disappointed in the vote due to the belief that the UAW would ensure proper safety practices be followed. Others were worried that bringing the UAW in to the factory would threaten fair wages and benefits. A total of 1609 votes were collected in the voting.
