Rockwood police were sent to the 600 block of South Chamberlain Avenue at Evans Street around 7 last night, where an 8-year-old bicyclist failed to stop at a stop sign on Evans Street and slammed into the side of an SUV driven by 52-year-old Robert M. Deakin of Rockwood. The boy was taken by ambulance to U.T. Medical Center for treatment of serious head injuries sustained in the crash. There’s no word on his condition.

No charges are expected.
