The Knoxville Police Department said two people died after a crash Saturday on I-40 Eastbound near the Papermill exit.

The police report indicates 23-year-old Sarah Kasunic of Pennsylvania crashed on I-40. A witness, 38-year-old Ashely Moore, pulled over to help. Both were hit by another vehicle.

Moore died at the scene. Kasunic was taken to U.T. Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the two women, 31-year-old McKenzie Brett Lashley, and a passenger in her vehicle were not hurt in the incident.

The crash is still under investigation.
