A woman wearing only a bathing suit was arrested for driving under the influence on August 9, 2026, after crashing her Nissan into a ditch on Tabor Loop.

According to a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies responded to 536 Tabor Loop regarding a motor vehicle accident and found Christina Day seated in the driver’s seat of the wrecked vehicle. Deputies reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on Day, who had bloodshot and red eyes.

Day initially told deputies she was texting a friend when she crashed after swimming. While she first denied drinking, she later claimed she had consumed a “BuzzBall” the previous night, offering conflicting timelines about the hour.

Deputies administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), during which Day struggled to follow instructions, moved her head during the gaze evaluation, failed to maintain heel-to-toe contact or count aloud during the walk-and-turn, and stopped the one-leg-stand evaluation early.

Based on her performance, physical indicators, and inconsistent statements, deputies determined Day was impaired and posed a danger to the public. She was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking, where two vials of whole blood were secured as evidence.
