CITIZEN SCAMMED OUT OF OVER $3,000

A Cumberland County citizen reported to the sheriff’s office she was scammed this week. The report states the victim got a message on Facebook from an individual with a link attached. She clicked on it and it took her to a unfamiliar website. A representative then contacted her and said his company had $180,000 for her if she would just pay transfer fees of $3,250 over the phone using a credit card. The victim did so and never saw the huge sum of money offered. Law enforcement reminds everyone not to give personal information to scam artists or to “offers too good to be true.”
