COCA COLA TO DISCONTINUE MINUTE MAID FROZEN JUICE PRODUCTS IN APRIL
Coca-Cola announced it is discontinuing its Minute Maid frozen juice concentrates—including varieties of orange juice, lemonade, and limeade—in the U.S. and Canada, with the products being phased out by April 2026 and remaining inventory sold while supplies last.
The decision stems from evolving consumer preferences favoring ready-to-drink fresh juices over frozen options, amid a broader decline in the frozen beverage category, which saw U.S. sales drop nearly 8% in the recent 52-week period tracked by NielsenIQ. Contributing factors include competition from alternatives like energy drinks and protein smoothies, concerns over added sugars in juices, and rising prices for orange juice due to weather impacts in key growing regions like Brazil and Florida—a 12-ounce can of frozen concentrate averaged $4.82 in December, up 13% year-over-year.
Coca-Cola acquired Minute Maid in 1960 and later expanded into refrigerated ready-to-drink juices starting in 1973, a shift that now takes priority as the company focuses on products better aligned with current demand, while rivals like Tropicana continue offering frozen concentrates.
