Early this morning, deputies were dispatched to an address on Webster Road in Harriman for a fight between two men possibly involving knives. One suspect ran around to the back of the trailer. One deputy walked to the back of the property and found a man hiding in a deep freezer. The deputy drew his Taser and ordered him to show his hands.

The male crawled out of the freezer and started walking away. Ignoring commands to show his hands, he took off running. The deputy deployed his Taser, which had no effect. The deputy then tackled the suspect to the ground, whereupon, the suspect began kicking and punching, striking the deputy in the face and the side of the head. Deputies were able to subdue and restrain the suspect, who said he had a hypodermic needle in his front right pocket, which was removed. Deputies also recovered a knife from his person.

While being escorted to the patrol vehicle, the suspect resisted multiple times, then refused to sit in the vehicle. When asked for his Social Security number, he claimed he didn’t know it. When asked for his name and date of birth, he gave the name Cody Collins and said it was the deputies’ job to figure the rest out. He was advised not to lie because he would be charged if he did. The male asserted his name was Cody Collins and that deputies would have to figure out the rest.

He was later identified at Roane County jail as 23-year-old Curtis Addison Collins, through his previous booking photos.

Collins was charged with assault on an officer, criminal impersonation, resisting stop, frisk, halt arrest or search and two outstanding failure-to-appear warrants.
