CONSTRUCTION OF CHOICE LANES TO BEGIN IN 2027
Tennessee’s first toll lanes, referred to as ‘choice lanes’, will begin construction in 2027 with I-24 between Murfreesboro and Nashville to be the first highway to recieve them. Choice lanes are part of Governor Bill Lee’s Transportation Modernization Act approved in April of last year.
Prices to use the lanes will vary on demand, but TDOT officials and public buses won’t be charged. In Florida, which uses a system TDOT modeled the choice lanes system after, has prices going from 50 cents to as high as $10 depending on demand.
The lanes are meant to incentivize willing payers toward a more reliable travel method.
Those wishing to voice their opinions will be able to do so next week at community meetings.
