A convicted sex offender classified by the state as violent was arrested Friday in Cumberland County.

Deputies took 49-year-old Johnny William Norris of Crossville into custody on four warrants for violation of the sex offender registry and four warrants for community supervision violation.

Norris was taken to the Cumberland County jail and initially placed under bonds totaling $80,000.

The sex offender registry indicates Norris was charged with rape of a child in 2012, but was convicted of a lesser offense of aggravated sexual battery.
