COOKEVILLE IHOP RECEIVES FAILING HEALTH SCORE

The IHOP, located at 1115 Interstate Drive in Cookeville, recently received a failing grade of 63 from the Tennessee Health Department Health inspector. Any grade below 70 is considered failing.

The inspection, conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 18, found violations including but not limited to:

  • Seeing the cook, apply gloves and begin food prep without washing hands first.
  • Watching the cook crack an egg into a pan and handle ready-to-eat sausage afterward.
  • Visibly soiled plates stored on the cook line in use, food contact services not cleaned and sanitized.
  • Ham on the rack on the grill at 95°, improper hot holding.
  • Par-cooked bacon sitting on the counter in its cooling process. Uncontrolled; the product had been cooling for 15 minutes, not a temperature violation. But an improper cooling method.
  • A white powder substance and a clear plastic container not labeled at the front counter.
  • The cook’s beard and mustache are not covered.
  • Wet stacking of plastic containers and improper air drying.
  • Clean utensils stored in a dirty container.
  • Clean eating utensils. Stored mouth up, unprotected in dish area.
  • Broken spices lids in storage.
  • Food spatters on the cook line and grease buildup on the hood.
  • The hand sink is ajar at the drink station, plumbing, and pore repair.
  • Dirty fixtures in the men’s restroom with hair in the sink.
  • The dumpster area is not cleaned.
  • Black buildup on walls and dry storage and ceilings throughout, as well as water-stained ceiling tiles, missing floor tile, dirty walls with food splatter, and debris buildup between equipment.
