COOKEVILLE MAN KILLED IN CRASH ON 70E THURSDAY MORNING NEAR RENEGADE ENTRANCE

One person was killed and three others were injured in Thursday’s early morning crash on Highway 70 East in Cumberland County. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, 20-year-old Shawn M. Kinnett, of Cookeville, was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima eastbound and was negotiating a curve when the vehicle ran off the roadway. The vehicle went into a roll back across the highway and landed off an embankment. Kinnett was killed in the crash. Three passengers were listed as injured: Katelyn J. McCracken, age 21, of Algood; 18-year-old Makenzi R. Key, of Crossville; and a 17-year-old male from Algood. According the THP all vehicle occupants had been drinking. Traffic had to be re-route for more than 7 hours while the crash site was investigated and cleared.
